AMURTEL has long been involved in distributing goods to socio-economically disadvantaged people in Romania. In the summer of 2010, AMURTEL did a training in disaster relief management, with a particular focus on setting up and managing “Child Friendly Spaces” in the event of a disaster. A “Rapid Response Team” was formed, and went into action a month later, in response to flooding in Braila. AMURTEL is currently partners with IGSU “Inspectorat General pentru Situatii de Urgenta” (the equivalent of Romania’s National Guard).
